Closed: Licensing Act 2003 - review of Licensing Policy (4 July - 29 August 2025)

Under the Licensing Act 2003, licensing authorities are required to review their Licensing policy every five years. As our current policy expires on 6 January 2026 we need to review it and this includes completing a public consultation on the new document.

This policy sets out how we will carry out our responsibilities under the Licensing Act 2003 and outlines our approach to licensing premises that sell alcohol, provide regulated entertainment or serve hot food and drink late at night. It aims to promote the four key licensing objectives:

  • the prevention of crime and disorder
  • public safety
  • the prevention of public nuisance
  • the protection of children from harm

A consultation ran between 4 July and 29 August 2025. Any comments received will be considered, and the policy amended as appropriate. Comments received will be published as part of the policy adoption process.
